The Los Angeles Police Department reported that Amanda Bynes was driving a rental car when she was hit from behind by another vehicle. This is at least the fourth car accident she has been involved in since April.
The wreck occurred Aug. 20 in the San Fernando Valley. Although police responded to the accident scene, authorities left when the two drivers talked briefly to share insurance information. Details surrounding any possible driving violations of the drivers are still unknown, but law enforcement personnel did not ticket either motorist. There were no apparent injuries. The driver of the other car claims Bynes caused the accident as she swerved her vehicle on the road.
In April, Bynes scraped the side of a law enforcement vehicle as she tried to pass it and was subsequently arrested for DUI. In May, she collided with another motorist in a fender bender. On Aug. 4, she was accused of committing a hit-and-run accident in Los Angeles. Police continue to investigate that accident.
Bynes has been involved in a string of car accidents since April. In a collision, the law often sides with the motorist who has been rear-ended. However, the authorities are still reviewing her involvement in several accidents. The other driver has accused Bynes of causing the accident and may seek compensation. In cases like this, even if police declined to cite either motorist in a collision, it may be that one party or the other was at fault.
